The Zambezi Cancer Walk

At The Zambezi Cancer Walk, we are dedicated to making a difference in the fight against cancer. Through awareness campaigns, fundraising events, and community support, we aim to bring hope, healing, and change to those impacted by cancer.
To inspire and unite communities in the fight against cancer through education, advocacy, and life-changing initiatives that support patients, families, and survivors.
Create a community-centered organization that brings people together to walk in solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and their families while raising critical funds for research, treatment access, and patient support services.

What We Do?

We fight cancer relentlessly

Education & Prevention

Workshops and Seminars: Informative sessions on cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles, and nutrition. Awareness Campaigns: Community drives to educate on risk factors and preventive measures. Smoking Cessation Programs: Help and resources to quit smoking, a major risk factor for many cancers.

Early Detection and Screening

Cancer Screenings: Free or low-cost screenings for common cancers like breast, cervical, prostate, and skin. Health Checkups: Regular medical checkups to catch early signs of cancer. Education Campaigns: Awareness programs to teach the importance of early detection and symptoms.

Treatment Guidance

Treatment Navigation: Assistance in understanding treatment options and finding the right healthcare providers. Clinical Trial Access: Connecting patients with opportunities to participate in cutting-edge clinical trials. Palliative Care: Support for managing pain, symptoms, and improving quality of life.

Advocacy and Community Outreach

Advocacy Programs: Giving a voice to patients and survivors by pushing for better healthcare policies. Community Events: Organizing cancer walks, awareness days, and fundraising initiatives to bring people together.

Survivor & Caregiver Support

Survivor Programs: Services designed to support life after cancer, including wellness plans and ongoing care. Caregiver Support: Resources, counseling, and training for caregivers to better assist their loved ones.

Patient Support Services

About the Founder

Meet Dr. G.Z Mutuma

Dr. Geoffrey Zambezi Mutuma
Dr. G.Z. Mutuma

CEO, Consultant Clinical & Forensic Pathologist

Dr. G.Z Mutuma is a distinguished Medical Practitioner, Consultant Clinical Pathologist, and Specialist in Forensic Pathology with a deep commitment to cancer control, prevention, registration, and surveillance. He holds multiple qualifications including:

  • MBChB – University of Nairobi
  • M.Med (Pathology & Medical Microbiology) – University of Nairobi
  • Diploma in Forensic Medicine – Royal College of Pathologists of Australia
  • Diploma in Medical Jurisprudence – Society of Apothecaries, London
  • Diploma in Cancer Prevention & Control – Bethesda, Maryland, USA
  • Certificates in Cancer Surveillance & Molecular Biology – Emory University (USA) & Suez Canal University (Egypt)

He has served in several key roles, including Chief Government Pathologist, Director of the National Cancer Registry, and Principal Research Officer at KEMRI. Currently, he is the CEO of The Zambezi Hospital.

Dr. Mutuma is also a fellow and Life Member of the International Cancer Transfer Fellowships (UICC), and a founding member of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Faculty of Forensic and Legal Medicine.
